Burned up MASSIVE calories yesterday and today. I went to Fawn Friday's noon Kb class at the Press gym. Lot's of cardio, kettlebell style. Very good class. Pefect technique from Fawn. I met Dan the owner. Mitch- who dead lifts 700 pounds. His girlfriend Cheryl who is a legend at 105 pounds with a dead lift of 363!!!! I know guys who can't dead lift half that much that weigh twice as much.

Then we had Judo from 5 to 6:30 pm. Lot's of rolling and mat work. Holds and overcoming the guard. Another good class/ learning experience from our Sensei George.

Today I led an hour long KB class from 9 to 10 am. Then ran errands. One errand was to Barnes & Noble. I noticed that my Yoga book from B.K.S Inyenger had a page that didn't jibe. On page 26, the sentence didn't continue onto page 27. There was a page 27 but it didn't match the previuos page.

I'd already called the corporate office to tell them and they said to bring it back to the store. I did and the book they had on the shelf was the exact same way. So now they're going to get a new one sent to them to exchange to me. We'll see where this leads...

From 4 to 5:30 I had my other friend/ Sensei Carl teaching me Kenpo. Open hand techniques. He showed me an open hand to my previously white, inner forearm. Let's just say that I learned at that instant how effective an open palm strike is and will never forget. Like a wave crashing into you. Also called water palm. My forearm is still red and has a slight abrasion on it. Wow! Now that's effective! He could kick my ass any day of the week!

After Carl was done, we trained kettlebells, He has good technique from being a martial artist.

Then after our session I did double kb presses with the 12's and 16's, one hand, ala Kenneth J. Chins with 2- 16's. The gada stick between sets. TGU to oh squats- 24k x 5 l/r. 32k x 3 l/r.

Stretched hands, wrists, calves and ankles after all of this for better Judo practice and tension release.

Have a Great Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

9 to 10 am. led a small but faithful group of women thru their kb paces.
We were talking about back in the old days when we grew up we had candy cigarettes. Stood up in the back seat. Dad and sometimes Mom smoked on a cross country car trip. Mom would send you to the store to get her a pack of cigarettes and give you a little money for some candy. Good times.
From 11 am to 1 pm. attended Judo practice with my boys. We practiced our falls, rolls and cartwheels.
Then after lunch we practiced a few things we worked on in class then I did some light TGU's and double TGU's, iron crosses, arm bars, side presses. Hit the Gada stick, practiced Kali strikes, then did one hand swings- 24kg x 25, rest, repeat for 100 reps. Then did another 20 hand to hand all within 5 minutes. Did windmills, halo's, bootstrappers and push-ups.
Time to relax for the rest of the weekend.

Today's training was accomplished in the following manner. Supersets of open palm tgu's and two 12.5 # clubbell swings for 13 reps. 12, 16, 24, 32 kg bell for the tgu's- one rep each hand. Then onto bent presses while still supersetting the swings. Three sets with the 32 kg each hand. On the last set of swings I went up and over the shoulder with the clubbells. I think that's called a cast??? then I did the new 9.5# Gada for five reps over each shoulder, ten reps total. Hands are shaking from the new stimulus and demand on the grip.
I now am officially a "martial artist". I bought a Judo Gi yesterday and my friend from work Carl is teaching me Kali- Filipino stick fighting, dirty boxing and knife fighting. It's a nice complement for the grappling I'm learning in Judo.
I've always wanted to learn a martial art and now I'm learning two at the same time. Sweet!

After a break last night I did some chins while waiting for dinner. 0 x 2, 12 x2, 16 x 2, 24 x 1, 32 x 1, 40 x 1. Overlapping grip. Did a couple push-ups between sets and after the chins.
Tonight I did Military presses- 16x 2, 24 x 2, 32 x 1 x 2. Working my trouble spots in the am with Z drills for 5 to 10 minutes every morning.

GTG- Salternating sots presses and double snatches. Worked up to the 24's for each. I made a Gada. An ancient training tool of Hindu wrestlers. A shovel handle with a ball of cement on the end. Very small amount of weight needed to torch the upper body, You push it over your shoulder and pull it back around to the front around your other shoulder. I got this idea from Steve Maxwell. Thanks Steve. My son made one too and loves it!
